Mime Theatre Workshop in L.A. - June 7th & 14th, 2008

Actors have only two tools of expression: WORDS and MOVEMENT.
You can talk the TALK, now learn to walk the WALK!

This training is excellent for Actors, Dancers, Comedians, Storytellers, Animators, and anyone who wants to develop the physical aspect of their performance for film, TV, and stage.

Taught by Mime and Movement Coach Lorin Eric Salm, who teaches mime to performers of Cirque du Soleil; teaches character movement to Disney and DreamWorks animators (including “Chicken Little” and "Shrek"); and coaches and choreographs movement for feature films (2009's "Surrogates" with Bruce Willis), television (MTV’s “Next” and TLC's "Faking It"), and commercials (Reebok, Ford, Axe).

MIME THEATRE STUDIO
announces its upcoming
LEVEL I 2-DAY INTENSIVE WORKSHOP

Saturdays JUNE 7TH & 14TH, 2008

in Santa Monica, California (Los Angeles area)

with instructor
Lorin Eric Salm
Graduate, Marcel Marceau Paris International School of Mimodrama
Mime & Movement Instructor, Coach, Choreographer, and Consultant for Stage, Film, and TV

* About Level I *

This first level of instruction introduces those new to Mime Theatre to the fundamentals of the art. Students gain a general understanding of what Mime was in the past and what it is in today's theatre, and begin to learn the physical and dramatic skills that provide a strong foundation for Mime work. The class curriculum includes specialized movement skills, physicalization of emotion, and stylization techniques (including basic illusion work). (For more about the Level I curriculum, see website under CLASSES.) Students who complete Level I are eligible to enroll in the weekly Level II Class.

* The 2-Day Intensive Workshop *

The same 12 hours of instruction that used to be offered as a weekly class is now covered in these two days. On both Saturdays students will have 6 hours of class, with a lunch break in the middle of the day. The intensive study format offers participants the energy and focus that comes with immersing themselves in the study of Mime Theatre for several hours per day. Since less time is spent on warm-up and review than in a weekly class, more time can be devoted to the introduction and practice of material and to giving individual attention to each participant.

The workshop is offered for students age 17 to adult (younger students by special permission only). Tuition is only $135.00 for the weekend if registered by May 24th, and a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to register. (For registrations received after May 24th, tuition is $145.00.)
