EN-710 Software Engineer - Contract - Pasadena, CA (local candidates only)
Length: 3 to 12+ months

A leading optical software and optical engineering services company has an opening for a full time contract Software Engineer. The software is for state-of-the-art optical CAD/CAE programs for the layout, design and analysis of lens systems, targeted for Windows platforms.
As a member of the Software Engineering team, you will be responsible for the full life cycle software development, including requirement analysis, design, implementation, and testing. Responsibilities include assisting with functional specifications, developing robust and flexible software architecture and design using UML, delivering high quality code on schedule, performing and assisting in QA & testing software products, providing technical information to assist in the development of product documentation, authoring and participating in software design and code reviews. Programming tasks can range from detailed, scientific algorithm design to working on MFC-based GUI’s to supporting installation and licensing software systems.
You must be familiar with modern software engineering methods and tools, have a proven record of accomplishment in software development, have excellent references, be able to interface with large, existing software systems and solve problems quickly and accurately.
Requirements:
o. 5+ years experience in developing OO software using Microsoft Development Studio (Required)
o. Mastery of C++ and either C or Fortran (Required)
o. Experience with object-oriented modeling using UML (Required)
o. Experience developing scientific or mathematical software applications in fields such as CAD, CAM or CAE (Required)
o. Degree in a related field (Required)
o. Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- Microsoft Foundation Classes/Win32
- Development of Geometric Solid Modeling Systems
- Microsoft COM Programming
- Clearcase Configuration Management System
- OpenGL
- InstallShield installation software
- Agile development
