The Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD) is a public agency located in Southern California dedicated to maintaining world-class leadership in wastewater and water resource management. OCSD operates and maintains the third largest wastewater treatment facilities west of the Mississippi River.
As a member of the District’s Planning Division, within the Engineering Department, the selected candidate will provide civil / sanitary engineering expertise to the Orange County Sanitation District’s Planning Division. The position performs a variety of professional engineering work in the review of commercial, industrial and complex residential plans to insure compliance with applicable plumbing codes. This position will also be responsible for issuing sewer connection permits, processing property annexations, and coordinating and directing the work activities of Engineering Associates and clerical staff providing similar services. The selected candidate will also coordinate inspection services for new sewer connections, participate in environmental reviews of proposed developments in the service area, and develop agreements with property owners and developers for sewer services. This may include conducting planning level studies of alternatives, managing project budgets and schedules, and managing Engineering Consultant contracts. The successful candidate will also prepare written agenda reports for Boards of Directors, and write letters and other correspondence to consultants, businesses, private citizens, public agencies, etc. The selected candidate may also perform other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Civil Engineering, from an accredited college or university. A minimum of 5 years professional engineering experience, preferably in water/wastewater design is required as well as a valid California Professional Engineering (PE) Registration. The successful candidate should have the ability work well in a team environment. The selected candidate will also have the ability to use all Microsoft Office products, communicate effectively with all levels of District staff, consultants, and contractors, and be able to mange multiple projects. It is also preferred that the candidate has experience with GIS tools and sewer/water modeling software. A valid California Class C Driver’s License or the ability to obtain is required.
SALARY RANGE: $89,315/yr. $108,576/yr.
