Crisis Intervention volunteer counselor-advocates provide counseling, advocacy, education, and referrals to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and child abuse. They answer crisis calls on the 24-hour LA Rape and Battering Hotline, and respond in-person to hospitals and police stations to provide one-on-one support to survivors and significant others. After successful completion of our 65-hour Crisis Intervention training, volunteer counselor-advocates make a one-year commitment to taking a weekly 4-hour or 8-hour shift with the hotline and accompaniment program.
Our 65-hour, training consists of lectures, activities, and interactive discussions designed to provide volunteer counselor-advocates with the necessary knowledge and skills to respond to hotline calls and in-person accompaniments for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and child abuse. Training presenters and facilitators include multi-disciplinary professionals, experienced volunteers, survivors, and Peace Over Violence staff.
**Women of color and bilingual women are strongly encouraged to apply**
