If you know what you want, here's where to get it.
Not recommended for claustrophobics.
Browsers beware. On a weekend night you'll be lucky if you can even see the New Releases shelf. The air conditioner leaks on your head as you weave through the front door, it's cramped, all the DVD's are spine-faced so neck-aches will ensue...what doesn't fit on the shelf will get sorted by genre, or country of origin, and put into giant 3-ring binders that you can barely hold up.
Why? The same reason they had their phone shut off. It keeps the overhead down. I once heard the owner, Mike, explaining that if he was going to have someone to answer the phone, he'd have to raise the rental prices. He made the right choice.
I love this place. It is literally crammed with movies. And, Mike's inhuman mental database of films. He knows what's been released, and what hasn't. He remembers if someone ran off with that Sonny Chiba movie you wanted. Most of the time, he remembers what's checked out on any given night.
Thousands and thousands of movies. $.99 rentals on new releases overnight. Let's repeat: $.99 rentals on new releases. 5-day rentals (still $.99) on others. Probably the best Anime and Asian film catalogue around. The obligatory adult section. Reasonable late fees, if you're prone to that sort of thing.
Figure out what you want on the way there, then figure out a few backups in case they're out.
Rent. Return. Repeat.
