CALI GROWN....BUT HIP HOP'S HOME.......
from pasadena to san diego and back to pasadena, the have been gracin’ the stages with some of the
best in the game. YET NO DEAL?!... maybe it’s perhaps
the way they refuse to settle for the current main-
stream booty-bouncin, sing the chorus for 20 minutes,
fuck-rhymin-the-words anymore type shit we all see on
the video shows and hear played on the radio...over and
over and over and over again. “And like one of our
favorite artists, common, put so eliquently, ”...if i
don’t like it, i don’t LIKE it, that don’t mean that
i’m hatin...” they emphasize clearly with no apologies.
the BMC’S hold no punches (gut, sucker, hawaiian, rabbit,
or 1-2’s)...bitch-slaps included....but they DO have a more
docile side, after all, music soothes the savage beast. BONGS,
BREW, and an occasional night at the BAR in ‘DENA, keeps the
BMC’S appreciating the little things in life while on the
grind to the big league. Armoured with K-3 ‘da KONJOURMAN’s
beats and vicious rhyme style, coupled with NATURALE and
her “little woman’s complex”, they’re sure to bat 1000 as soon
as they set foot on the infield. That may have happened much
sooner, were it not for having to make a cut in the middle
of the season of one of the three players on the team,
“i’m not tryin’ to get into all of that right
now---let’s just say we had creative differences...and i
gotta’...we gotta respect that”, K-3 and NATURALE said
collectively. that “creative difference”, aka pooK, was a
part of the trio since 1995 up until 2003. So, as the BMC’S
change their ammo, feeling now that they can explore areas of
music that has been long awaited from a west coast hip hop
group, can now be endulged in--through the likes of this pasadena
duo...whom, to no availe, happen to be husband and wife.
“we’re like the new and improved krs-1 and ms.melody”...NAT
advertantly proclaims as she finishes off her bong load, “whitney
and bobby too cracked out, and we don’t do drugs, we smoke weed...
plus we been married longer than any of those other couples have
even known eachother so, they don’t count!” AND, after hearing
their fusion of rock, soul, r&b, jazz, ska, and funk, mixed with
some married with children, george n’ weezy, james n’ florida
attitude while all in the name of hip hop, for the BMC’S,
it won’t be long until that statemant comes to pass.
