I use to love this place. I grew up here in Santa Monica and I we would go to Bay Cities Deli to get some grub after my baseball games. Nice to know that that place still rocks - Unsubscribed , posted 07/02/07 |

coupled with a soda and a piece of butter brickle for dessert and you have a perfect meal. get a big one and save some for later. also grab two numbers when you get there and give one to the hot girl that came in 15 minutes after you if you're dirty like that. - ironlionbryan , posted 07/02/07 |

Someone told me Bay Cities is known for "the godmother/father", but the caprese is divine, and I seem to get it every time i'm there. I've never been when there's not a 20-40 minute long line, but the people watching is fabulous, as is browsing the aisles of imported goods (i've never seen so many bottles of olive oil.) Pick up a loaf of warm bread while you're there. I enjoy fighting for a table outside and torturing all the people stuck in traffic with each savory, dripping bite. - sarah , posted 07/02/07 |

Best italian hoagie/sub/grinder/wedge/whatever you call it I've ever had and I grew up on the east coast where every corner had a deli! The godmother is unbelievable. -  Zenbobway

Bay Cities deli has some of the best italian style sandwiches in the Venice/Santa Monica area. The place gets absolutely swamped at lunch, as it's no secret. I stumbled into this place while I was at one of my earlier internships. So crowded during lunchour, for a good reason - great fresh bread so good it melts around the meat - try the chicken parmigana. The deli guys are really nice too, very easygoing and friendly.
