Bergamot Station Arts Center
Bergamot Station Arts Center is a sprawling, mall-sized Santa Monica art complex, featuring dozens of interesting galleries. Some of the exhibits are boring minimalist stuff or canvases covered with big splotches of paint, but this place is eclectic enough that it's always worth your time to look around. 310-829-5854 - Ursula , posted 01/09/05

30+ art galleries, one big complex
Bergamot Station is truly one of the best places in LA to go to get your art fix. Once a trolley station, this campus-like, industrial warehouse/art gallery complex in Santa Monica has been successfully transformed into more than 30 galleries, 10 shops and a cafe. You can easily make an afternoon of it, walking a circle around the huge parking lot in and out of the widely ranging galleries & shops, stopping in for a drink at the cafe. Must sees are: The Gallery of Functional Art, Sculpture to Wear, Track 16, Craig Krull Gallery, and Santa Monica Museum of Art.

Opening receptions for shows constantly, coordinated receptions for the complex frequently (including the first Saturday of every month), and really fun events like LACMA Muse parties are held here often - check the website for their events calendar.
