The Brand Park Mountain way is very steep, and about 1-1.5 hours to the intersection of Verdugo, ~1.5 miles from Verdugo peak. Toward the last 5th of the trail, parts are quite dangerous as the debris has slid into the trail leaving only a precarious cliff side to traverse. - Unsubscribed , posted 07/02/05 |

A while back, I stumbled upon a little park at the end of Western Avenue, up in the Glendale Foothills. Little did I know that the innocuous little trail leading away from the parking lot would lead to one of the steepest hikes I've found in the area that will put you up above Burbank/Glendale in less than 15 minutes of (strenuous) hiking. If you're looking for an alternative to Runyon or Coldwater, this is a good one with few people on the trail, and the loop is about 3 miles long with an elevation change of probably around +/- 1000 feet.
