Back in the Day.......................
It seems alot of you have not enjoyed the C&O, too bad. Back in the day (1980's) it was the Cheese & Olive. I would walk over in the morning and have a "power breakfast" for $1.50. (coffee/one egg/a crescent roll) . Then we're sit around yappin' about our careers. Arnold "Swarzadigger" was just a body builder then and was there often. Many artists have waited tables there. Then Bobby married Debbie and after a while they sold it. I guess Bobby had to have it back so he bought it and it had became the C & O. While I know nothing about Italian food, I have never had a bad time there. It's always full of LA shakers and the limos are always blocking the street! Hey is you don't enjoy the food, ask for a mgr. They will make it right. I can't cook for shit so if it's warm I like it. Peace & Harmony.... bdl - Big Dave , posted 12/04/08

This place is the shit!
Okay, so there are some nasty statements on here, and I would say that those people do not know what they are saying.

First off- there are two resturants. I know that the cucina is not as nice as the trattoria, so if you haven't been to the trattoria, you haven't had the real experience. Secondly- there is a massive mobb of people every night, so let that be a statement. The pasta bowls are between $10-$20 and come in two sizes. The cheaper, smaller version would feed a small family. The large size would feed a small zoo- FOR A WEEK. You cannot beat the prices. The have awesome classic fare, as well as original items- the the sun-dried tomato pesto- which has lots of veggies, but IT"S ROCKIN!
And- the house chianti is the best house chianti I have ever tried. It's light and fruity, but not super sweet like some house wines.

this place rules! I am a fan for life! - lauren , posted 12/14/06

It's the McDonald's of Italian Food....
.....can i get a Super Size Fries with that? HELP! What a shithole gimmic. Worst part is that the owners & managers have actually been quoted saying "We're the best Italian food in all of Los Angeles"....OH MY GOD....tell that to Valentino on Pico, they actually use C&O sauce to strip the paint off their walls. - Unsubscribed , posted 11/30/06

Just OK
The garlic knots are out of this world - otherwise, this place is okay, not great. Check out the Citysearch review - many of their users seem to agree: losangeles.citysearch.com/profi...a.html - Erin , posted 11/06/06

The place is packed--that should tell you something..
Generally, when you see a lot of people at a restaurant in the LA area, you can count on it being bad. Especially Italian restaurants--as the only real Italians in LA are in the witness protection program. Thus, they're not allowed to display what real Italian food is. This place serves expensive bland fare that no amount of salt will bring to life. - Unsubscribed , posted 08/07/06

Good food & atmosphere
This is one of the better pasta places I know of, and they certainly give you your money's worth. Better yet, it's a good place for business meals since you can draw diagrams on the table cloth. There's another C&O's that is better if you want to go on a date, but they're both quite good. - , posted 12/04/05

Nice atmosphere, crappy food
Filler-Upper food for the culinary impaired. But good vibe, and close to the beach for the romantic "walk on the beach"... better italian food is available a couple of blocks east at the Pasta Factory (funny, this name would have fit C&O much better). - Claudia , posted 06/18/05

great place to bring out of town guests
there slogan is very true, "never leave hungry" because you always will bring some food home if you want left overs. the rolls are excellent, the atmosphere is great, if you are there in the evening, you are bound to join in a sing along, which builds a sense of community. if you want more sauce, just ask for it, because the service has always been good for me. this is one of my favorite restaurants to my friends to when after they fly into LAX. you can watch the sunset and have a great dinner. - J.R. , posted 06/17/05

Not al dente
The pasta is overcooked and they barely give you enough sauce. Chef Boyardee does a better job. - Unsubscribed , posted 06/03/05

I'm surprised....
That people have had bad food there. I've been there a few times and it's always been very good. - Unsubscribed , posted 02/28/05

onyl if you're starving
not to say that the atmosphere isn't fun or that the food is not edible, but truly, it's just a place for a high school football team to go after winning a game. it's sooo much mediocre food that just fills you up with...nothing but dough. there are so many other choices for italian in l.a. - Sarah , posted 02/03/05

Awful pasta, awful sauce
If you like your pasta so overcooked and pasty that you could easily confuse it with oatmeal, eat here. Otherwise, stick with Matteo's in Westwood or Locanda Venuta.

The service is frantic, the food is mediocre at best and bound to give you indigestion. For example, the garlic cheese balls they serve as you wait. They swim in a resevoir butter and are covered with raw garlic and what tastes like Kraft parmesean cheese.

What chef would put zucchini and carrots in a pesto sauce? - Unsubscribed , posted 10/05/04

Italian, surprising bargain with atmosphere!
Their motto is "People don't generally leave here hungry" And wow. What an understatement. Just order a regular serving and try to eat it all. I dare you. I have never ordered more than a half order and have always left happily full.

In addition add the most devillishly yummy all you can eat garlic rolls, bottomless sodas and serve-yourself Sangria (on the honor system).

After that you really crave a long walk along along the beach as they are right near the pier.

But good food is just part of it. The atmosphere on the patio, with fountains and facades transports you straight to romantic Italy.

And if you are there in the evening you might be lucky enough to be there when the entire waitstaff hands out the words to "That's Amore", breaks out the Sangria and the words to the song and encourages the whole restaurant to sing along! Fun and cool. - DevonTribes , posted 09/01/04

The best Italian in Venice
The food is amazing. There are two amazing things about this place. 1) You can ask for ANYTHING you want. Design the meal, pick a pasta a sauce and ingredients. 2) The wine is served on an honor system. Thats right, get hammered and tell them how much you drank. Is a bit pricy, but its worth it. Then you can walk off the wine on the pier. - how , posted 08/31/04

Cute italian place on the beach
Mmm, I think of C & O's and I think awesome little garlic bread rolls that they bring out every 15 minutes - and fill your plate up with them. HUGE portions, with really great pasta. They even have a chianti on your honor glass refill thing- sweet - and incredibly cheap for everything. Do yourself a favor and go already! - Sandra , posted 08/31/04

C & O Trattoria so far is great in the LA area...
Italian style food, great price, guarantee left overs/fully full-happy stomach! And can be group friendly, romantic, after work enjoyment, near the beach. Parking looks pretty bad, but it's not that bad. - Lily , posted 08/31/04
