I love Doughboys. The Breakfast Pizza is an ass- kicker. It really is a load of food. However, what's up with them not letting you use their bathrooms now at the Third St location? - Chadland , posted 08/03/07

Try the Red Velvet Cake
Oprah showcased Doughboy's Red Velvet Cake on her show today as one of the best cakes in the country. It is f'in awesome, but I'm a little bummed about the publicity...if possible, the wait to get a table just got a little longer.

And yes, I watch Oprah. - Naz , posted 05/16/06

The bread is baked on site, and always fresh. You can even buy loaves of fresh bread. excellent sandwiches. - onlineZenbobway , posted 03/25/05

Good soup
Doughboys has a good $10 deal for a big bowl of soup and a healthy side of salad. The steak soup is the only one I like and the salads are heavy on dressing, but it's a nice winter warm-up on the cheap. The service is fine, although there is one waitress who loves to talk for hours to anything male that moves. Beware of her. She's a nightmare and doesn't stop talking. - Nina , posted 11/01/04

Best French onion soup in the world..and the rest of the food is A+++
Doughboys is one of the top cafes in LA. The food overall is A+++. They have a great breakfast, great salads, and great sandwiches. They also have the best french onion soup in the world. It comes in an overside bowl with cheese and bread croutons throughout. - Joanna , posted 11/01/04

The best breakfast in town.
Doughboys offers breakfast all day, featuring the restaurant's signature, unforgettable breads. Try the stuffed french toast filled with jam and cream cheese, or the scrapple and eggs with a side of still-warm French bread. Lunch and dinner items are simple but generous in size. Sandwich choices featuring that marvelous bread, which is, by the way, also sold by the loaf. - Señor , posted 08/31/04

Yummy yummy bakery-cafe
Eat at Doughboys. At least once. You have to experience their huge salads and hot out of the oven breads. Their salads are the only thing i've ever eaten there because I am flat out addicted to them. I hear everything else is really, good, but i couldn't tell you. All i have a visions of heaping mounds of fresh vegetables lightly tossed in delectable dressings and accompanies by rounds of soft, doughy cheese breads. AGH! i gotta go! right now!

Need another lunch trip...
Doughboys is indeed great. VERY satisfying soups, especially the garlic and mushroom which leaves my pores seething with garlic. The red velvet cake is incredible. My only concern: the steak soup no longer seems to have steak..? The server said that's what it is: a steak broth. However, I remember there being steak in the soup as well..? Nevertheless, Doughboys is a favorite. - Polarbeast , posted 08/26/04

Delicious!
Oh man, we haven't eaten in Doughboys in a couple of years when the hipsters invaded like cicadas, but man, it was great! The garlic mushroom soup rocks. That means something because I hate mushrooms AND soup. Wonderful staff with great recommendations. - faboo , posted 08/26/04

The best restaurant in LA for under $10
Everything on the menu is astounding and delicious. Great soups, innovative sandwiches, gigantic salads, fantastic breakfast served all day, plus the fresh-baked breads and pastries. No one makes a better red velvet cake or Cobb salad. And the best part is, nothing on the menu is $10. The only knock against the place is the long wait for weekend brunch, but that only tells you that other people are catching on. - Dan , posted 08/26/04
