some issues with waiting and admin, but excellent care
I have to wait at least half an hour (usually more) every time I visit, but I feel that the care is really good. My first visit was an annual exam, at which time the NP discovered one of my ovaries was large, so she ordered an ultrasound. I had my ultrasound and then made a follow-up appointment. Not realizing the Dr. herself was only in the office until a certain time, I made an appointment for 3:45 and discovered at that time that it was with the NP. The NP told me at my appointment that I would have to see the Dr. So, I wasted time, copayment, etc. that day, and had to come back. When I came back I waited about an hour for a 5 minute conversation with the Dr. It turned out I had some cysts (which I suspected), some normal, some complex. She prescribed treatment and another ultrasound, which seemed to do the trick, and I had a good report when I came for my follow-up with the Dr. So, I ended up with a positive experience, but as they say, the waiting is the hardest part. I think maybe they should just schedule appointments for a little later so patients don't have to sit for half and hour or more. One time I saw a patient walk out disgusted. - Jessica , posted 05/12/08

Excellent Doctor!
I read the negative reviews posted on this website and felt compelled to rebut them, since I found them completely unfair and ill founded.

Yes, a couple of times I had to wait a considerable chunk of time beyone my appointment time ... but when does one ever visit a medical office and be seen right away? Also, Dr. Reyes has an incredible patient load ... yet she takes the time to listen to everything each patient has to say. She responds thoroughly, giving individual attention to each patient without rushing them.. Sure ... I'll wait the extra time because when it is my turn, I want that same extra time and attention to detail for myself, as well.

I recently had MAJOR abdominal surgery performed by her. She phoned me at 10 p.m., in order to address all of my questions, the evening prior to surgery despite being exhausted from her long workday. She took great pains to make sure any unpleasant issues I experienced with prior surgeries didn't recur.

I find she respected my wishes as to how to handle various medical issues ... and as such, I was able to avoid a hysterectomy ... which was high on my priority list.

Someone's response on this site scoffed at her recommendation to follow the "Eat Right For Your Blood Type" diet plan. Frankly, I find that even though Dr. Reyes is a medical doctor, she also uses a holistic approach when appropriate. Frankly, I appreciate that she has the intelligence and foresight to use anything in the arsenal to help combat illnesses. In addition, patients always have a choice. They may or may not take the doctor's advice. She gives it with the intention of helping her patients. If you don't agree with her suggestions, don't do them ... but I see no need to ridicule them.

Upon first meeting, I found her manner to be reserved and down-to-business. With little effort, I was able to break the ice with humor and have come to know her as a warm, competent and caring doctor. I actually had her laughing hard at my jokes. Those below who found her to be very cold may not have taken the initiative to try and establish a rapport with her. Not everyone in life has an outgoing personality ... and to be honest, I'd much rather have a doctor who may be a bit cool and reserved, but who is extremely good in their field.

Lastly, I also found her staff to be extremely helpful and very friendly ... which made me feel very comfortable there.

In the spirit of fairness, my suggestion is to ignore the comments of a few sour grapes and schedule a few appointments with her yourself so you can make up your own mind. But please, give her the benefit of a doubt before making a judgement.

I suspect the negative reviews were written in haste by a few people who got angry for various reasons, but didn't bother to try and understand the doctor or appreciate what she she was trying to accomplish ... under the conditions she was trying to do so. I regret that they found their experiences less than satisfactory and send them my best wishes in finding a doctor that will even come close to having her skills.

I find her to be one of the best three OB/GYN 's I've ever been to.and I've had 20 years of problems in that area.

Respectfully,

Find someone else besides Reyes
I had a similar experience as Hippie. Without re-living the whole experience here, I'll just say to please look for care elsewhere for a better doctor. - d , posted 07/10/07

Save your money, your sanity, and your time by seeing someone other than Kim Reyes, MD!
I rated this doctor previously but it was removed by a tribe moderator under threat of a lawsuit by the doctor herself! So I will review her again with my words carefully placed. I saw this doctor a total of three times in 2004-2005. Besides making me wait over an hour beyond my appointment time all three appointments, I was treated badly by both the staff and the doctor, to the point of being misdiagnosed.

In one instance, I was told by her staff to go to the emergency room for my gynecological problem. I did, and Dr. Reyes never showed up, or even answered the calls from the emergency room staff, even though she was on call. They overcharged me for services on my insurance, making me pay more than my share of cost, and it took six months to get my money refunded!

When I decided to go to another gynecologist and asked that my medical records be forwarded, I was told "they were lost" and they would look for them. That was late 2005. I never got them, and had to have ultrasounds, biopsies, and blood tests done all over again.

I am no expert, but I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this doctor! - Hippie , posted 09/10/06

Good practice
I've been a patient of Dr. Reyes' practice for about a year now. I appreciate having a practice that includes not only an OB/GYN but a NP and CNM. I've had some problems with them rescheduling appointments at the last minute, but no issues with billing, and her staff is prompt with communicating test results. - jj , posted 06/16/05

A great OB/GYN in the Valley
Many of us do not actually look forward to a trip to the GYN, but Dr. Kim Marie Reyes at the Center for Womens Wellness really makes it worth the trip. The office is clean and lovely and the staff is really nice, helpful and knowledgeable. Dr. Reyes is a compassionate physician who really takes care of her patients. I would not trust my you-know-what to anyone else! - SistaMoon , posted 09/10/04
