I stood in line for 10 minutes...
to go into a white room with nothing but an oil painting and old seismograph thing-a-ma-jig. Blah!

And I had to take off my shoes, too.

Some of the exhibits were kind of interesting, like the LED room, but my partner and I couldn't help comparing what we saw to all the awesome art we see out on the dusty playa at Burning Man. - hapagirl , posted 02/21/06

Garbage
It's garbage and I'm glad it's over. Hopefully they move something genuinely thought provoking and maybe even actually trippy in its place. I believe I saw it in December. It was nowhere near as interesting as what was going on at the Grand Ave. MOCA with the new additions to the collection exhibit and the big, life-size, exploded VW Beetle. Now *THAT* was fun. - Christian , posted 02/20/06

spoiled rotten
i finally went to the ecstasy exhibit a couple of weeks ago...the funny thing is that several people told " you gotta see it on shrooms! it's so amazing"
well i went and shroomed and was thoroughly unimpressed. haha the joke's on me i guess. i shoulda gone sober!

it's like i could see thru the 'altered states' veneer to a rather dull and canned joe public civilian version of what we interact with on regular basis... especially on the playa.. my friend alegria and i agreed that we're spoiled rotten... :)

in truth, i think we had more fun than anybody else at the exhibit, especially with all the lines. the hardest part was not being able to really interact and touch and play with the art.... sigh... well i can't complain really. it's good that our 'civilians' at least get exposed to the concept. it's inspiring that it got so many people interested... just think of what our community could do to plant seeds in the mainstream society.. :) - Rafael , posted 02/17/06

Don't sit under the mushrooms-loved the light/fog piece!
Very creative and original. I second D's thoughts on pre-activities for enjoying a show based on altered mind states.
(note: this picture of a different gallery has taller ceilings than where they are displayed at the moca - you cannot sit underneath the yummy looking upside down spinning mushrooms at this one. I tried :) okay - you actually "can" but they don’t want you to. - StarBurst , posted 02/17/06

Ecstatic evening @ MOCA
It's engaging, but I'd *strongly* suggest... ummm... "doing your homework" before going in, ya know? Better hurry, it closes Monday, Feb. 20th. - D♥ , posted 02/16/06
