LA's Most Popular Leather & Bear bar
The Crowd: The "WeHo" of leather bars, the Faultine is advertising to and attracting more "prettier" and "less serious" clientele than other kinky bars like Gauntlet II (soon to be The LA Eagle) and Cuffs. On some nights, the Faultline is still predominantly bears and leathermen, but most nights find a majority of men who like to wear leather and screw, rather then men who live leather and "play." Serious players still frequent the bars, but are becoming less common.
Useful Tips: 1) Unless you want your head shaved, avoid getting a haircut at the "Clippers" night (every other Thursday?). 2) Unless you get the right bartender (little Chris), don't bother ordering anything fancier than a liquor with soda mixer. As with the Gauntlet, most of the bartenders are about as skilled at making drinks as they are at being genuinely friendly. 3) Many beer busts and import specials mean a beer lover can cruise and drink cheap here.
Cruising: Weekdays are mostly empty, with Thursdays being the more popular night. Weekends are bust & event nights, with a bear or leather event thrown in about once a quarter. Most Saturday nights feature music and video mixes to a theme, go-go boys, and your usual club fare. If you're looking for a quick hookup with a hot guy more than slightly overcompensating for his insecure masculinity while listening to the tunes of KROQ bands, or if you're new to the leather/bear/fetish scene and don't want too much intimidation, this is your bar.
