Very romantic
I found the food to be wonderful and the atmosphere lovely. Great service, too. - Deb , posted 10/09/06

Location, location, location
Location = 5
Service = 3
Food = 2

Took a friend for winter solstice dinner a couple of years ago; the location was fantastic, the service was mediocre and the food was, eh. From the excellent reviews below I'm tempted to revisit (maybe new the Inn has a new chef?)

Quaint
It's a nice dining experience. Topanga is one of those great places in LA and Inn of the Seventh Ray captures the feeling of Old Topanga wonderfully. - Paul , posted 06/08/06

Xmas time
It was very romantic, a lot of lights, candles, soothing atmosphere, great tasting food. It was a little chilly to sit outside, but it was worth it. It definately leaves a lasting memorable impression. Go in the evening! - love , posted 02/02/06

I give it a 4.5. Coyotes rate it a 1.5!
I've been dining there since the mid 80's. Never had a bad time, a meal I didn't like, or a date that wasn't really nice: At least for the night of the date anyway! The restaurant, the food, the setting; all have a way of soothing the most savage city dweller. Being a big mean vegetarian didn't bode well for the visiting coyotes. They were bold, lean, and would turn their noses up to the bread scraps I would toss them. Obviously they had found some carnivores to toss them leftover carcass of some sort. They amused me, and my date. - sam , posted 06/18/05

Elven Dinner Parties
Tasty food and great atmosphere, a bit pricey but worth it for that special occassion. New Age bookstore/giftshop is an added bonus. - Unsubscribed , posted 02/02/05

Been there several times. Try their excellent dessert; soy vanilla icecream. Just heavenly. - Isle of View , posted 01/30/05

Beautiful and romantic setting
You can dine in the trees and eat tasty, healthy food. Also a beautiful place for a wedding. - Caitlin , posted 12/03/04

Romantic
Inn of the Seventh Ray is that special place! The outdoor patio runs along a stream. There is also a gazebo where stars can sometimes be seen. White lights and plants also give it that cozy feel. The menu has a vegetarian focus, but that is not to say fish and meat dishes cannot be found. There is something very special about this place - be sure to make reservations! - Bee , posted 09/01/04

Best Sunday Brunch in Los Angeles
I first started going to the Inn of the Seventh Ray when I was a vegan. It is one of the few places that works equally well for vegans, vegetarians and carnivores. They serve fresh healthy food that everyone can enjoy anytime.

Nestled in the middle of Topanga Canyon, the Inn is a short drive from both Malibu and the Valley. The romantic spot is a great place to take a date day or night, but the best time to go is for Sunday Brunch. You'll be amazed by the cornocopia of delights that are assembeled for this all-you-can-eat feast.

The Inn isn't cheap, but still a good value compared to a typical upscale LA eatery. I really can't think of any major downside. I recommend Inn of the Seventh Ray without reservation. - Martin , posted 08/30/04

Be Prepared to Wait for your Supper
There is no doubt that the food there is great. Definitely. But the service is so slow, it's almost amusing. For the prices you pay there, one might expect better service. - Noah , posted 08/30/04

upscale new age restaurant
ok, so this place is amazing for both the food and atmos! its outdoors mostly with curvy paths with dining nooks and gentle twinkling lights. my first time there i thought... wow... this is rivendell from lord of the rings!!!
its great, but not for those on a budget. you enter the labrynth like place via the new age bookstore. - fruitbat , posted 08/27/04
