Futuristic Cartoon Visions Organically Grown
Hailing from my hometown of Riverside, in the wild, wild east of the formerly "909", Jeff Soto's work embraces both high and low influences. Part graffiti tag, part Hieronymus Bosch, Jeff paints lurid otherworldy scenes of a possible future and a hyper-real present. At times, his work is optimistic, but it can also show a dark, brooding vision of the world seen through cartoonishly rose-tinted lenses. Jeff's work can be seen at New Image Art Gallery (1005 North Fairfax in West Hollywood) and La Luz de Jesus (4633 Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles).
