my favourite for years.
hi there.
i have been going to leonor's off & on for around 20 of my 25 years as a vegetarian.
the food is really good, old neo-hippie hearty mexican vegetarian fare, faux chicken, faux meat, faux everything that doesnt seem as-if real (not like that stuff in the health food store that is pressed into animal shapes, yuk) but instead is really good.
i think the vegan confusion business may have to do w/ the time the restaurant was open.
if you go way back, back into the troglodyte days of the current vegan fancy --way, way back, from before this restaurant existed & way past its wonderous conception-- you would find a HORRIBLE difficulty in even attempting a vegan lifestyle.
there simply were NO (count 'em, NO) prepared foods that were available --not even loma linda products, those which seemed MOST animal-friendly-- even they had milk & eggs.
milk & eggs!! i know. i tried. i have been, years ago, to restaurants whose vegetarian platters -featured- shrimp.
oh dear. they-a culpa. but leonor's is not like that.
i think it is a pretty honest, family run place. ask & ye shall receive, or at least be told no.
& if ye ask & receive, what is given & gotten is among the best vegetarian stuff that this city provides.
