I first went to L.A. Honey Co. back in 1971. I was 15 years old. It was also known as the "Diamond Match". I worked for a vegetarian restaurant and we used to buy 5 gallon cans of honey from them. It is a great place, people are very nice. There are a lot of cool stuff. I got all of my observation beehive supplies there. It is also a good place for ghost hunting and spending some times. - Tom , posted 04/10/06 |
 Goddammit I love this place. If you're a beekeeper or bee/honey obsessed, you need to check this out. To my knowledge this is the only proper Beekeeping Supply store in Los Angeles - it's a warehouse in East L.A. That's right - basically a Home Depot for beekeeping. If you're not a beekeeper, but you want a fun field trip or something weird / cool to do - it's worth checking out. Run by two brothers, the stillness of the warehouse has a weird David Lynch feel to it. You can hear a pin drop, and the faint hum of the lights, and it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll be the only ones there at any given time. Need a pith helmet and face netting? A white Devo-esque jumpsuit? A queen excluder? Wooden hive box frames? Comb foundations? Bee books and posters? Honey extraction tools?
