Great Beer Selection
Just make sure you sit outside because the inside smells like a frathouse. - Unsubscribed , posted 09/08/07

It can't be easy to be so good AND so bad, at the same time.
Pros: phenomenal beer selection, a tasty selection of pub grub to match, great outdoor patio. Cons: service which is consistently so bad you really have to pause and wonder ... is this all some kind of joke?

The full English breakfast (be sure to request English mustard for your bangers) with crumpets, the fish and chips (ask for extra tartar sauce when you're ordering, otherwise you'll never get it in time), the meat pies, they're all hearty, delicious, and totally appropriate.

On the other hand, you might arrive on a relatively uncrowded early evening, see serveral waitresses seemingly employed, sit down, order relatively soon ... and then wait TWO HOURS before your table's food has entirely arrived. Some will come sooner, some will never come, much of it will come missing key elements, some of it will be wrong, some will probably be cold.

But if you're not in a hurry, you've got a flexible disposition, and you're enjoying your pints, then go for it. I still do. - , posted 02/27/06

Best pub in so cal. Laid-back atmosphere with fine, fine beer. Great selection. Can't beat sitting outside on the patio on a warm autumn night. - Julie , posted 11/09/05

mixed feelings
I have really mixed feelings on this place. It probably has the best beer selection you are going to find in the old town area....but um I stopped going to this place because the bar wenches (HA!) had some major attitude going on, and they always gave me my pints with wa too much head! I mean hey try tilting it maybe! I can't tell you how many times I had to stand outside the restroom waiting my turn while a couple was getting it on inside the stall. - Christina , posted 10/08/05

cool, little English pub
Really interesting and different selection of beers. The place is a little rough around the edges and so are the patrons, but it's a nice change of pace. Be sure to sit on the patio because it's hot and smells funky inside - Unsubscribed , posted 07/18/05

Tom Waits in the jukebox.
I think that says it all for me. - Sherrie , posted 06/17/05

No leprechaun over the door!
An authentic pub, and no shitty rap music in the background. - Fallen Angel , posted 03/31/05

A popular British pub in Pasadena
A good selection of beer with great food, this place is guaranteed to be a happening spot most nights of the week among the beer-and-football (soccer) crowd. - Marleigh , posted 09/01/04

Fish and Chips! Bangers and Mash!
Missing the Duke of Wellington/Edinburgh pubs in the Northern CA bay area, I set out to find something comparable. Close is Lucky Baldwin's in Old Pasadena.

If you like beer and you like fish, then run, don?t walk, to this traditional English style pub voted best for fish and chips in the Weekly?s 2002 readers? pole. Located in one of the oldest buildings in Pasadena ? it used to be horse stables at the turn of the century ? the interior is traditional, with brick walls and a strong smell of beer, of which there are 50 on tap. - Sandi , posted 08/30/04

Lots of beer, rugby, and fish and chips...
This place was a favorite of a Kiwi friend of mine, (that's a New Zealander for you uneducated), a happy British style pub in the middle of Old Town Pasadena. This isn't a martini bar, they serve beer and lots of it, pints and pitchers of it. This place also has the best fish and chips platter you can get here in Los Angeles, as well as other traditional British pub favorites that I suppose are tasty, if you are British. A great bar to just kick back with friends and have a good drink or four. - Jennifer , posted 08/26/04
