A Neato Sci-Fi Themed Cafe
Excellent atmosphere, nice music, good vegan options. This place is one of the best! - Nikki , posted 10/02/05

late night hangout!
i love nova. i've had the best experiences bonding with people there. My only complaint is, i wish it was still open until 4 am like it was every night. I think that decor always helps, and i have fun making up subtitles for the crappy B movies that are being projected on the wall.

plus i really do like the pizza and chai. Its homemade, the waiters are super rad. - , posted 08/09/05

Best Community
The Nova Express isn't just a restaurant... it's a community, a place you can go where you'll know or meet other like-minded people. It's an imagination that can't see any boundaries. It's artistic symbiosis thriving with passion and creativity.

The food is excellent and has vastly improved over the last year. The service is getting better and better... Wacky movies on Tuesdays and a live experimental music night on Wednesdays... DJ's almost every night.

Come explore! - *~ Lighthouse , posted 05/09/05

nova express rocks!
nova express is by far my favorite place to hang out at with friends in LA. the food has gotten really good lately. im addicted to the fries. they have cool indy sodas, including lolli's cherry pop.

the best is that you can tell people that you are at an alien-themed coffeeshop listening to live techno. they have musicians in there a lot =) i go in there and sketch stuff with friends, and they're cool with people just hanging out and having fun.

the best drink is a banana espresso shake thing called the Black Dot. =) *drool* very smooth and sweet, and highly caffeinated. - pinguino , posted 01/17/05

are you kidding?
The real pizza joint, damiano's, is up the street. Their food is overpriced. The coffee is substandard. The interior is fun but hasn't changed since they opened. The music is good but not enough to stop me from going to Damiano's or Canter's during the wee hours. - onlineArtCriminal , posted 01/10/05

Yum Food & Excellent Service + Dinner And A Movie
Hungry at 8PM, 1AM or anytime in between? Nova Express is the place. The food is well priced and yum and service has always been great no matter how late and crowded. I love that Nova is open LATE, especially given the alternatives in the area.

Edit:
Hey, it’s me again. I just Googled Nova Express for the fun of it and found a livejournal page and a tribe. Who knew?

Also, it looks like Nova has movies on Wednesday nights.

B.Y.O.G.S.: Bring Your Own Glow Sticks Pizza Palour
It is like a Early Nineties Aliens came down to the Fairfax district and threw up black light posters and isolationist candy techno pop stylings. Blaring techno music and adolescent skaters eating over priced mediocre pizza makes this place a real drag, but great if you are a 15 year old child of the rave, it's 4 in the morning and Planet Hollywood is closed. - alex , posted 10/25/04

Space Alien Pizza Joint
Definitely the coolest looking pizza joint you'll visit! The interior is inspired by Star Trek and countless old alien movies. Designed by a Burning Man veteran, you could be chowing down in old spaceship seats. The food is good and the location great-right on Fairfax across from Canter's. - divaDanielle , posted 09/08/04

Cafe, restaurant, DJ's - Nova Express Cafe
Open late everynight. This place has some killer DJ's. The crowds are small. The food is good. There are several original drinks and items on their menus. The cafe is decorated with all kinds of art and comics as well as action figures. The service is nice. The atmosphere is very laid back. Very well priced and always an interesting crowd. Across the street from Canter's on Fairfax - but still never terribly busy. - Jessica , posted 08/31/04

Science fiction-themed pizza restaurant
As you enter Nova Express, you pass "lava"on all sides. The eating area is black-lit (which makes it a bit hard to read the menu) and has a large "window" that looks out onto a starfield. Some tables are situated near the jaws of a giant creature. Collectible sci-fi toys are on display, and apparently, there are robot waiters (which weren't running on my visit). Even the men's room has theming in it. The food is good, too. I enjoyed the salad I ordered and my pizza with (optional) whole wheat crust. The hours vary, but generally Pizza Express opens in the early evening and closes at two or four am. - Ross , posted 08/31/04
