Best true Indian
Paru's menu may seem limited compared to the novel many people have come to expect from modern, Westernized Indian restaurants, but every item is %100 South Indian. Pleasant service, amazing food (spicy! Don't go if you can't take some heat) and an unpretentious atmosphere. Eat with your fingers, it makes it better. - Larisa , posted 09/07/05

authentic south indian vibe
this place is set up just like restaurants in central & south india, with a courtyard entrance. the dosas & chutneys are excellent, and the employees are usually creepily exuberant and friendly. photos of gurus all over the inside, and good chai. - harmony , posted 07/30/05

Great Vegetarian Fare
though I have had some pretty shoddy service there on occassion.
That said though, I am still going back! - , posted 06/07/05

Romantic place...worthy of continued visits
I like this place - it's not what it appears from the entrance..but once inside it's a very friendly atmosphere with a nice laid back approach. I've liked everything eaten there and come back often - once with my special gardenia hat which perfumed the whole place...wowzers! - Organic , posted 02/18/05

yummy south indian food and friendly staff.
Try the dosas, they're my favorite. Entering through the ugly gate into the garden makes you feel like you're going through the looking glass.. and the food is all good and all vegetarian. MMMmmmmm!!!! - Mrs. Delta , posted 07/29/04

great place
Paru's never fails to satisfy my stomach and leave me with a smile. Everyone is friendly and they take good care of you. I always bring my veggie friends from out of town, because I know the food is consistently delicious. - wolfie's , posted 07/13/04

Excellent Southern Indian: All Vegetarian
A regular for years, I find their menu excellent, the atmosphere comfortable and it's reasonably priced (viz. "cheap").

It is NOT like the generic Indian restaurants, since the menu is specific to Southern region of India (idlie, sambar, dosa, vegie curries).

Indoor and outdoor dining. On Sunset, just East of Western (south side); park next door in the Public Storage lot (night only); two doors down from Freestyle. - David , posted 07/12/04
