Try the white-board specials!
Everrything on their menu is 2 steps above what you expect Mexican food to be. On Sundays, the local Mexican families stop by after church, still dressed in their Sunday best -- can I say more than that? Gourmet food at taco-stand prices. Tortas served on fresh rolls toasted just right. Grilled salmon with papaya butter salsa served with charred greens. Fresh juices, perfect soups. - Scott , posted 03/27/06

no doubt!!
The classic grub spot for CM. Try the breakfast burrito, they have some crazy special aztec coffee too. Don't miss this spot. - sean , posted 03/20/06

The Best
It's located right across the street from the DMV. I went one day when I new I was going to be waiting for my number to be called. The tacos are amazing and the cold beer is a plus when you have time to kill. This place is worth the drive from any direction. - Heather , posted 09/08/05

Taco Mesa has "exotic Mexican cuisine at a real taco stand!
From crab enchiladas to blackened fish tacos and even lobster bisque, this place has first rate cuisine at taco stand prices. Stand in line to order, eat at metal chairs/tables on heated patio, and bus your own. There's also one in Orange. - cynthia , posted 11/02/04

Great place to eat
Cash only, though they have a (surcharge, naturally) ATM. Their food is both excellent and a unique version of mexican; you'll find a lot of things you can't get anywhere else. The only problems are:

1) It's popular, and thus busy; parking may be difficult, lines long and tables hard to find at busy times of day.

2) The only seating is outdoors. It's screened and there is shelter from the sun, but it can get very warm in summer, and in the winter your food will get cold very quickly.

The food totally makes up for this.

There is another location in the city of Orange, just off Chapman and east of the 55 freeway. This one is in a strip mall and has indoor seating; food is equivalent. - Matthew , posted 09/01/04

I drive from L.A. for this food!!
In what looks to be an old Taco Bell, you can find some of the most amazing food you've ever eaten. Blackened fish tacos, beer-battered jalapenos and ice-cold beer, mmm mmm good. Everything is fresh and unbelievably good! Small patio, so prepare to wait for a table, or take your food to go. - Niki , posted 09/01/04
