 Sunday swing nights are a blast, and make the best use of this beautiful location. The other nights are just blah stuff you can hear anywhere else. Show up on the swing nights and get the momentum going so it will get back on Saturdays and Fridays. If you can't swing, you'll learn quickly, and become an addict. If you are looking for Burlesque shows in LA on a regular basis, check the Monday night shows at the Derby on the edge of Hollywood. Great venue, cheap drinks on the night and the best of local talent. Bella Berretta hosts Dial M for Monday and usually showcases 6 -10 girls during the night. Every 3 weeks or so is Burlesque Bingo which is a fun spin on the idea. But make sure you catch the first Monday night of every month for the graduation of Girls School. It's a great night with lots of people and you get to see fresh talent perform on stage for the first time. It's a high energy night and a lot of fun! Just thought you all should know! This bar is still the home to swing nights, but don't worry if you can't dance swing. They have bands of all genres, great patrons, and some good drink specials (Monday and Tuesday are no cover with cheap beer). Their new back bar is a sweet lounge escape. - John , posted 09/07/04 |

With a large and elegant front room and a smaller intimate back room, The Derby is a great place to chill with friends or see some great music.
