the new location is awful, it's impossible to have a conversation
At the old place, there were quiet times in between Thai Elvis performances, and the music wasn't so loud. At the new place, I had a group of people there for my b-day party, and we couldn't hear each other across the table, and there was some other strange singer in between Thai Elvis, so no let-up from the din. We asked them to turn down the music, and they couldn't/wouldn't. The speaker set-up echoes off the hard decor, there's nothing to soften the sound. The food is still great, but I would only go there with someone I didn't need to talk to, like, happy just to stare into each other's eyes. - Andrea , posted 11/10/06

disappointed with the new location
All the charm of the original has given way to anonymous, Dennys-like atmosphere in the new location on Hwd Blvd. It almost seems like the owners are looking to build it into a chain, complete with slick, generic signage out front. And it certainly feels like a chain/novelty restaurant on the inside. The old place was cozy and friendly. The new place belongs in City Walk. - michael , posted 06/26/06

Best food
I cannot eat here Thurs-Sun nights too packed. Love it. I have been enjoying Palms Thai kee mao noodles and morning glories for the past 5 years. This new location is super noisy, super super noisy when there are other diners. But the owner knows how to run a restaurant. A lot of places could learn attentive and efficient service. But seriously, try the morning glory. - Paul , posted 06/08/06

mmm, thai elvis!
one of my favorite thai food places i've attended. mmm, kee mao noodles. My only complaint is that the thai elvis is never preforming (for some reason) when i go into the resturant. the service is really fast, too.

I frequently go there late night, or just to take friends to see the thai elvis. Good prices too! - , posted 08/09/05

Elvis rules!
Be sure you eat ULTRA FAST at this great lively Thai restaurant. Last time we were there and we tried to take our time they pratically pushed us out the door with a broom. But still, Thai Elvis rules. - Sherrie , posted 06/14/05

Great Entertainment
The Palms IS a great place to take guests from out of town. I'm not too gung-ho on the food, the service, the environment and the parking. It is kind of loud, too. But because we can't resist that Elvis, we keep going back - he's a welcomed distraction to what is otherwise mediocre Thai food. - Sotera , posted 12/09/04

The Palms Thai Restaurant
It's the best Thai food in L.A. and you can't beat the quirkiness of a 'Thai Elvis'. Unlike many other Thai places, the food is authentic. There's no catering to the American taste buds by altering how dishes are prepared. The place screams fun and is crowded with Thai people.

Parking is atrocious, but worth the effort. If you go on a weekend night, be prepared to wait. They do serve food until very late.

They run lunch specials all week long that are fantastic and easy on the wallet. If you decide to order spicy, be prepared to get what you ask for. They do have two grades of 'spicy', one for Thais and one for Americans. Be careful.

It's moving to the corner of Hollywood and Bronson in March. - L. , posted 12/07/04

As if the food wasn't good enough...
Kevin, the one and only "Thai Elvis" will croon along with your curry.

This is my favorite place to take visiting guests, hands down. It's consistently the best thai food I've ever had, and the sheer strangeness of having Thai Elvis perform his tribute to the king while I'm scarfing red curry tofu, broccoli with fish sauce and cold singha beers warms my heart every time. This is essential LA, if you haven't been, then get there immediately.

Other entertaining acts perform as well throughout the various nights, including supposedly a Thai Patsy Cline that has so far eluded us... - atom , posted 11/03/04
