one of my favs
Toi is great in my book. It doesn't proclaim to be authentic Thai, rather an american version. It's open till 4am which is great if you're out late in Hollywood. I love their veggie curry... lots of yummy veggies and tofu. But, yes, Thai town is awesome too and there are plenty of fantastic Thai places all over LA. This one just happens to be unique because of its hours, location and vibe. - Kimmee , posted 12/06/06

Great if you like having your food come back at you.
I got food poisoning here. Guess thats what I get for eating at a grade "B" restaurant. - Unsubscribed , posted 05/13/06

A different place
if you like to listen to blaring rock while stuffing your face with great food this is the place to do it.
The waitstaff is what really makes this place rock. Everyone is always nice and pleasant. I've always had a good time when I've gone there. They also have some really tasty beers. - TAOS , posted 09/27/05

Meh.
It's great that they're open so late, but seriously, the quiet little Thai restaurant two doors down is a perfectly fine restaurant too. I don't REALLY need to stare at pictures of Bono or watch VH1 with the sound off while I eat my Pad Thai, thank you veddy much. - Sherrie , posted 06/14/05

Decent
A very eclectic style of interior. The atsmosphere is lively, but the food was not wonderful. It was average in quality. Worth going at least once though. - Shawn , posted 01/19/05

Toi Rules
I dont know what these clowns are bashing Toi for. Its great. Thai Town isn't that great. Although I like Toi on Vine better because it's not as crowded. - Jeff , posted 10/22/04

If you are drunk or have no tastebuds, TOI is fine.
There are SO many better Thai food places 2 miles down the road in Thai Town. TORUNG (Hollywood&Wilton?)is open real late and is so cheap, they almost pay you to eat there. The food is also great. - onlineZenbobway , posted 10/07/04

Every town needs a Toi
Great atmosphere. Excellent food. You get a lot of food on that end-of-night-broke-from-the-bar budget. Try the veggie Tom Kha! - Deborah , posted 10/07/04

Rockin' Thai Food
TOI ON SUNSET opened their doors 18 years ago. For a place to last that long usually indicates a decent kitchen. They have a great menu of eclectic thai food and special tofu dishes. Prices are reasonable and service is pretty fast. It is definitely more of a funky atmosphere then an upscale one but the food is good. The decor is cool and they are open until 4am! You might even spot a famous face - Charli , posted 09/13/04

Don't Waste Your Money
With all the fabulous Thai restaurants in Thai Town and throughout LA, why would you waste your money at Toi?

The staff is brain-dead, unfriendly, and slow. Every dish tastes the same (coconut milk and nothing else). They never bring all the food out at once, and can't get their kitchen to understand that appetizers come BEFORE a meal, and not AFTER.

The only draw for this restaurant is their Urban-Outfitters-Opened-A-Thai-Restaurant feel, which will get you FAR less Indie cred than going to a Thai-owned, Thai-operated Thai town dive, like Ocha or Hollywood Thai Cafe.

Toi is about as cool as Blink 182 is punk, and about as good. - Unsubscribed , posted 08/31/04
