yumm yumm....they have the best chicken sharma sandwich...however!...the sandwiches in pasadena are much smaller than the ones they serve in l.a., so that sucks (-1 star). - naturale , posted 05/11/06 |

For the price, you can't beat this place and its chicken. And the Shawarma sandwich is really good too. - El , posted 02/10/06 |

Have one close to home in Glendale, so I cannot comment on the Hollywood location. But it's a very delicious roasted chicken. The aforementioned greasiness is true, and on occasion they have let me down with a bit of a dried up, overcooked bird. But for the most part, it is a very well done meal for the price, and I too am a fan of the disgustingly fattening garlic paste. Ummies. - Evader , posted 11/08/05 |

I'm going to be brave... This place is overated. Some friends said it was terrific so I tried it. I thought the garlic paste was gross. I waited in line for 20 minutes so when my food came, I was expecting something fantastic. It was greasy as hell and not in a good way. I don't know, I just didn't dig it. - Julie , posted 11/04/05 |

The chicken's great too. Really, my only complaint is the parking (I've been to the Van Nuys, Hollywood and West L.A. locations. They all really should have more parking). - WiSH , posted 09/01/05 |

Tasty fricken eats, great prices. You will want to smear the garlic paste on everything you can eat. - Sherrie , posted 06/17/05 |

this is the some of the best fast food in the USA. In 5 minutes, you are served a small slice of Armenian culinary mastery....these cats at Zankou really know how to cook your chicken. a 9.0 in any country, any city, any time. - taureau venusienne , posted 04/11/05 |

Don't eat the chicken with garlic sauce if you're going to go on a date, say, within a week's time. As a Slavic person I love how sheerly overpowering the garlic is. I took my dad to Zankou on one of his visits and he still drools over the mention of their perfectly cooked chicken. Do not go, however, if you're big on ambience or friendly staff. - Tanichka , posted 04/08/05 |

Though the atmosphere is poor, and the service okay, the food is incredible and at a great price. It is definetly one of the best cheap eats in town. I absolutely love the 1/4 white meat chicken. It comes with humus, a garlic spread, some pita bread (you can ask for an extra piece for no cost) and an interesting tomato and beet salad. There are some other great dishes as well. - J.R. , posted 10/14/04 |

Zankou Chicken is a small, local chain of Armenian rotisserie chicken joints in L.A. and the Valleys. I've eaten at the ones in Hollywood, Glendale, and Pasadena and have loved the food at all of them. Rotisserie Chicken with Garlic Paste is their signature dish, and they offer other standard quick middle eastern entrees and side dishes as well. The Glendale and Pasadena locations offer have the most seating; the Hollywood location is smaller, better for take-out than for eating in. - Chris , posted 09/01/04 |

Zankou is an Armenian rotisserie chicken restaurant that serves up Middle Eastern cuisine. The falafel plate is pretty good, but definitely try the chicken either in pita sandwich form or on the bone. What really makes the meal is the amazing white garlic sauce (well, paste, actually) that is almost good enough to eat by itself. Just kidding. - Max , posted 08/30/04 |
